Ryan is an active powerlifting competitor, USPA coach and state referee. In addition to powerlifting, he has background in coaching team sports and is the current strength and conditioning coach for the Olympic High school wrestling team. Prior to working with the wrestling program, he coached girls soccer for many years. As a competitor, he has a diverse background that allows him to relate and program sports specific exercises accordingly. Before narrowing his focus to powerlifting, Ryan competed in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, weightlifting, strongman, rugby, soccer (indoor & outdoor), hockey and wrestling.

Accomplishments

  • 1st place at American Powerlifting Association (APA) Kabuki Summer Strength Championship in Open and Submaster 220 raw division and Best Lifter Award

  • 1st Place at World Powerlifting Alliance (WPA) World championships in the Open and Submaster 220 raw division

  • World Powerlifting Alliance (WPA) Submaster world record holder in deadlift

  • American Powerlifting Association (APA) Washington State record holder in squat and bench press

  • USPA Washington State Benchpress record holder

  • Coached 9 lifters to qualify for World Powerlifting Alliance (WPA) Worlds and 5 lifters won WPA world titles in 2016

  • Won 2016 APA Washington State championships at 242 open and submaster drug tested divisions and broke all state records

  • Multiple time nationally qualified strongman competitor

  • 2019 Oregons strongest man
